October 2022

Dear friends and praying supporters

On the 3rd of October 2022 we started our 4th term and welcomed back all students to our Auckland Park, Soweto and Alex Campuses. All JBC staff members were ready to receive the students for 7 weeks of loving and serving as we dig deep into God’s Word. Being able to have in person classes this year has been blessing to both staff and students as our style and way of teaching favours face-to-face interactions. We praise God for the easing of lockdown restrictions that have made this possible once again.

Prayer and Praise Point
  • Praise God we’ve been able to have in person classes this whole year
  • Pray that we would make most of the time we have with the students and that we would be pointing them to Christ in both our teachings and our actions.
JBC Mission Week

JBC Gospel Partnership
In each term we have had the privilege of hosting and engaging with Pastors from in and around the communities we are based in through our Gospel Partnership Lunches (previously known as Pastors’ Lunch). The aim of the Gospel Partnership Lunches is to establish and grow our relationship with Pastors from local churches so that we are best positioned to serve the churches. One of our hopes it for the Gospel Partnership Lunches to be a platform in which Pastors and Church Leaders would receive continuous training, mutual support and encouragement as we all love and serve in God’s kingdom.

Psalm 9:1-2
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
    I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
    I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High

As the year draws to an end, we have so much to be thankful for. The Lord has sustained and grown both staff and students as we engage over his word. The plans and preparations for our Celebration and Commissioning Service have started and we are all looking forward to celebrating what God has done in the lives of the students. As we prepare for the celebration, we are still hard at work with classes and the pastoral care of our students; walking alongside each and every one of them so they can all finish strong! We are also still actively recruiting students for 2023 for are our Soweto, Auckland Park and Alex Campus.
Closing
Prayer and Praise Point:
  • Praise God for the transformative work he has done in the lives of the students through his Holy Spirit and his Word.
  • Praise God for his grace in sustaining us throughout the year.
  • Pray for strength and wisdom as staff continues to love and serve the students.
  • Pray for the preparation of the Celebration and Commissioning Service
We are continue to be in a space of growth, which is a great blessing and a challenge. Please pray for the Alex campus to be firmly established in the next few years, our professional qualification to get better and better in equipping the church, our training the trainers to grow, and each of our six student communities (two in Auckland Park; two in Soweto; two in Alex) to thrive. We are also in the midst of recruitment for 2023 and looking at housing for students travelling to us from all over Africa. So much to thank the Lord for, so much to pray for. Please pray for the resourcing to continue to grow to meet our needs. We are over 90% donor funded, and we are so grateful to those who have given so generously over the years.

In Christ,
The JBC Staff team.
