Asikhule Sonke Trust

Introducing the Asikhule Sonke Trust

The Asikhule Sonke Trust is structured, in addition to its public benefit objective, as a Broad-Based Black Ownership Scheme in terms of the B-BBEE Act and relevant codes of good practice. The trust is an educational trust in the skill development sector and supports the work of the Johannesburg Bible College (JBC), through bursaries awarded to its beneficiaries who are students at the college. JBC is a non-profit organization based in South Africa, providing support to many students throughout their journey with holistic education-encompassing academics, life skills, self-development and confidence to help balance life aspects on students’ mental, physical and social wellbeing – thereby empowering them to reach their full potential as self-sustaining and proactive members of society, especially in local churches.

Asikhule Sonke Trust has been set up to receive funding from companies who wish to get points in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment space, and the beneficiaries of the fund are designated JBC students. The Asikhule Sonke Trust is able to contribute points to a company score card according to the relationship via ownership, skills development and socio-economic development. The Trust meets all legal requirements for Trustees and Beneficiaries. The Trustees are at least 50% Black Persons and at least 25% of the Trustees are women.

JBC provides accessible skills training to those who were previously excluded. In order to make this training available Asikhule Sonke Trust offers generous bursaries. The majority of students make use of this facility, enabled by donation, and are active in their communities and churches. In order to measure the impact of our programme, we monitor and support all our beneficiaries, enabling them the best chance of success. The support provided to the beneficiaries will include both a financial and non-financial element with the final support determined by the needs of each beneficiary.
