May 2024 Prayer Letter

Dear Partner,

We are at the end of term 2 and have again seen immense growth in our students’ understanding of the Bible. A few students have dropped out due to finding paid jobs or family commitments but we still have full classrooms and lively class discussions.

On Thursday, 30th May we have another group of students writing their professional exam. We pray they will be well prepared and feel confident as they sit this external exam. Thank you to teaching team, and Natasha and Charlene for your hard work getting the students registered and ready.

The students and staff team are looking forward to a two week break at the end of June.

Please pray
Please pray for the national elections taking place Wednesday 29 May. We pray every South African will understand the importance of their vote and that there will be no violence or intimidation. Please also pray that the process will be free and fair.

Please pray for the students writing their EISA/professional exam on    Thursday 30 May.

Please continue to pray for a new location for our Alexandra Campus. We are grateful for every donation and support we have received, allowing us to submit an offer to purchase on a property in nearby Kelvin.  We will need to do a certain amount of renovations but it would provide us the opportunity to offer our full One Year Course in Alex.

Please continue to pray to expand our Soweto Campus to accommodate growing the number of students and open up the possibility to running the full Two Year Course at the campus.

Please pray for the Asikhule Sonke Trust to obtain its PBO tax number for SARS. It has been a two year process without any outcome as yet.

Please continue to pray for sustainable funding for the work done at JBC.

Please consider sponsoring a student’s registration fee R2 000
or part time fees of R9 000
or full fees of R17 500

Training the Trainers Conference in Ghana

We had a very encouraging first Training of Trainers West Africa conference in Accra, Ghana from 21 to 23 May, which John Miller organised together with Relite Africa Ministries in Ghana.  30 delegates from 17 ministries in 5 West African countries came together for training in understanding and teaching the Bible, Philippians, and 2 Timothy and seminars on topics like fundraising, marriage and ministry and spiritual warfare.  Those who attended were greatly encouraged and keen for the conference to continue in West Africa.  The main speaker was Neil Watkinson from the Proclamation Trust and other speakers included various Ghanaian pastors and John Miller.

Thank you to all our generous supporters. We are unable to do this work without your prayers and donations. We pray you will find peace and grace in your walk with our Lord. We hope you share in the joy and excitement of how the Lord is growing his kingdom through JBC.

Yours, in His service
The JBC Staff team
